from canada cConservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre fired back at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday, accusing him of not being “woke” enough.
Trudeau made the comment not in Poilievre’s presence, but at the Liberal Party convention in Ottawa on Thursday. The Prime Minister pledged to stand in the next election in front of 3,500 party members. Speaking to an audience that included former US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, Trudeau mocked Poilievre’s dislike of the CBC network and support for cryptocurrency.
JUSTIN TRUDEAU IS TRYING TO CONTROL WHAT CANADIANS SEE ON THE INTERNET
“Populism, its slogans and the buzzwords of Pierre Poilievre are not serious solutions to the serious challenges we face,” Trudeau said. “Too awake? Hey Pierre Poilievre, time to wake up.
“Justin, you’re right: I’m not awake,” Poilievre responded in a Twitter video. “But I’m common sense and I’ll bring home a country that works for the people who actually do the work.”
Poilievre criticized Trudeau for preaching about climate change while flying private jets, refusing to debate it and wanting to ban hunting rifles while legalizing drugs like cocaine and heroin. The Tory MP recited the list off the top of his head as he rode in a car to Newfoundland. He went on to promise that his own party would deliver lower costs by scrapping the carbon tax, more domestic jobs over outsourcing, more prison time for bail options for criminals and the removal of censorship laws.

“Justin, I know all these ideas are foreign to you. In fact, Canada must feel foreign to you with all the time you spend abroad,” Poilievre said. “I understand you’re a long way off again while I’m ashore here in Newfoundland, about to meet up with some lumberjacks.”
Trudeau governs with a Parliament that includes 158 Liberal MPs, just short of the 170-member majority, while 119 seats have gone to the opposition party.
