In yet another example of the left's lack of creativity, there are plans to retell two more classic American films from a “different point of view.”
Never mind that no one is actually asking for these reboots with woke stories that tick all the diversity boxes.
But writer-director Kenya Barris told Variety that's exactly what he's aiming to do, as he takes a “different” new look at “The Wizard of Oz” and the Christmas classic “It's A Wonderful Life.”
“The original 'Wizard of Oz' took place during the Great Depression and was about self-reliance and what people were going through,” Barris said. variety during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival.
Filmmaker Kenya Barris is directing new remakes of The Wizard of Oz and It's A Wonderful Life:
“Perfect time to change characters”

“I think this is the perfect time to change the characters and talk about what someone imagines their life could be,” he said of the changes planned for the 1939 classic starring Judy Garland. “Ultimately it's a hero's journey, somebody thinks something is better than where they are, and they go and realize that where they are is where they should be.”
“I want people to be proud and happy where they are,” the “Black-ish” creator continued. “But I want the world to take a look at it, and I hope this comes out.”
He also discussed using “diverse characters” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last year.
“I think this is the best time to make a mirror of society because we have to see ourselves, and I want to do it with diverse characters,” Barris said at the time.
One of the changes he intended was for Dorothy to be a girl who “lives in Inglewood, and somebody comes along and she ends up in the Underhood, which is just outside of Oz, and it takes place from there.”
“I wanted to make people think, but also make them feel good, and also make people feel seen that they haven't felt seen,” she told Fallon.
And Barris also wants to retell Frank Capra's 1946 Christmas classic in a new way, with the story centered on a “person of color” instead of the role immortalized by Jimmy Stewart.
“I feel like Christmas movies are amazing and I think the idea of taking something that has such a long story and history behind it and putting an incredible piece of talent to tell that story,” Barris told Variety .
“He's a guy who's trying to help his community and things are going to turn around for him,” he said.
“I think this is the perfect story to tell for a person of color, black or brown, to come into it because our communities have some problems and somebody is trying to help that community. I think this is the perfect vehicle to tell that story.” , added.
Online, social media users took a collective look at the latest effort to remake the classics.
Literally no one asked for these remakes of “The Wizard of Oz” or “It's a Wonderful Life.” Why not create original content instead of destroying originals? Then when things don't go well for them, they'll blame it on racism.

Both will fail miserably.

Why can't these people make their own stories? They just steal everything and “write” it into their views…

Why do people insist on doing this? Should someone remake The Color Purple and Roots with white people?

These creatively bankrupt hacks have no shame or talent

Make up your own story, stop perverting great movies with modern remakes with the apparent aim of contextualizing through a hostile view of the past.

I can't wait to see how much money they don't make.

More Hollywood flops coming up! Many millions of dollars wasted on virtue signaling.
