College football coaching legend Lou Holtz offered an inspirational message in response to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Referring to Trump as “our leader,” he asked his supporters to “do everything legally possible to support President Trump and his cause.”
The comment made it clear where Holtz stands in the November election after he hinted in February, “We need to train America back to greatness!” Holtz posted on X Wednesday.
“After every catastrophe, and this is certainly one, we have to ask ourselves 'what's important today,'” Holtz posted on X. “Today, we pray that our leader has a full and speedy recovery and that the left shuts down rhetoric only for a brief moment.”
“They tried to keep him off the ballot, jail him, invite over 9 million illegal immigrants to vote for him, and now they tried to assassinate him,” he continued. “Our side should do everything legally possible to support President Trump and his cause. There is nothing more undemocratic than all the attempts they have made to keep President Trump out of office.”
After each catastrophe, and this is without a doubt, we must ask ourselves “what is important today”.
Today we pray that our leader has a full and speedy recovery and that the left turns off the rhetoric for a brief moment.
They tried to keep him out of the polls, jail him,…

Holtz concluded, “It's time to get back to the values that this country has.”
Trump presented Holtz with the 2020 Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the iconic coach spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention.
At such a troubling time for the nations, social media users appreciated Holtz's input — here's a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
This is the voice of reason and why I love #LouHoltz

Thank you, coach. Political violence cannot be tolerated in a civil society.
