The White House reportedly rejected a request from the families of hostages held by Hamas to attend its annual Hanukkah celebration, an inexplicable decision that drew criticism.
According to CNN, the administration did not invite family members to Monday's event, which was attended by about 800 people, a snub that comes as President Joe Biden suggested that public opinion could “shift” quickly against Israel's military campaign against terrorists in Gaza.
“Several relatives of kidnapped and missing American citizen hostages in Gaza had asked to attend a Hanukkah reception tonight at the White House, but reportedly never received invitations,” anchor Jake Tapper reported in on Monday's edition of “The Lead,” addressing CNN Senior White. House correspondent MJ Lee who was in the nation's capital.

“Is it too late for the White House to rectify this situation?” Tapper asked.
“I don't think it's too late because the reception hasn't happened yet,” Lee said. “But this is a Hanukkah reception that the White House is hosting tonight to celebrate the fifth night of Hanukkah hosted by the president and the first lady and what one of the family members of the families who have missing relatives in Gaza, is still believes he was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7th, they told me they had contacted the White House because several of the families were in town this week, they had requested an invitation to this event, but that in the end they were not invited.”.
“The White House did not respond to a request for comment,” it continued. “These are family members who are desperately trying to draw attention to the fact that there are still eight dual U.S. citizens who are still missing, who are still missing. Obviously, formal negotiations to get more hostages out, we saw broke earlier this month, so there are a lot of questions and the families are very desperate for any kind of news, any kind of movement that they see from the white house as well as the Israeli government about how their family members are going to get out , Jake.
Tapper then said, “We know that people in the White House watch this show, if they have any questions, please contact us and we will get MJ involved and fix this problem if it can be fixed.
During the reception, the octogenarian Democrat made his cryptic comments about a possible shift in attitudes toward Jewish democracy.
“We are committed to providing military assistance to Israel until they get rid of Hamas,” the president said, proclaiming “I am a Zionist” to applause from the audience. seconds in the New York Post.

“But, but, we have to be careful, they have to be careful. Public opinion around the world can change overnight. We can't let that happen,” Biden said, without explain what he meant, but he has come under intense fire from anti-Semitic elements in the Democratic base to force a cease-fire in Gaza and every vote is critical to him in the election. course
