CNN host Kate Bolduan pressed Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy on Tuesday about whether Vice President Kamala Harris should participate in interviews.
Harris has not participated in a single session interview since he launched his presidential bid on July 21, President Joe Biden Day fell down out of the race Bolduan noted that Republican nominee Donald Trump has been participating in interviews, most of them recently with “X” owner Elon Musk on Monday night.
“It's not a hard-hitting interview, but like Trump said, he's doing interviews. Kamala Harris not yet,” Bolduan told the New Jersey governor. “Do you think this is becoming an issue for everyone, for all of you, to support Kamala Harris and that it's not just a scheduling issue?”
“It won't surprise you to know that I didn't have time for the Musk-Trump interview, so I can't comment on any content. But no, not at all,” Murphy replied. “I think she's had an extraordinary few weeks. Tim Walz is an inspired choice. She's on point. She's, as she's said, brought joy back into the whole realm of politics. There's going to be plenty of time for interviews “.

Murphy suggested that Musk did not conduct an actual interview with Trump on Monday night and assured that Harris will sit down for interviews with “real journalists.”
The Trump campaign reportedly plans to get Harris off script in front of voters and journalists. Trump and Harris have done it okay to participate in a Sept. 10 debate moderated by ABC News, although former Pres proposed to discuss it on September 4 with the moderators of Fox News.
The vice president has hesitated to participate in events that are not very controlled, seconds in Axios. Harris was filled with anxiety after being invited to a salon-style dinner at the home of D.C. news mogul David Bradley in April 2022, which required her staff to simulate the event ahead of time.
Bolduan cited a New York Times/Siena survey As of Saturday, it found Trump leading Harris 53% to 46% on the economy and 51% to 46% on immigration in the battleground states, noting that Trump's lead in those issues is “a big deal” for the Harris campaign. Murphy said the campaign will try to reassure voters that the economy is “better” in their hands.
“The Harris-Walz ticket will bring you a safe pair of hands, stability, exactly what America's kitchen table needs,” Murphy said.
A survey by The Financial Times found Harris ahead of Trump on the economy by 42% to 41%. The poll polled 1,001 participants between August 1 and 5 with a margin of error of 3.1%.
