Details about the Secret Service's attempt to bail out former President Barack Obama's personal chef were uncovered by investigators who broke the Hillary Clinton email server scandal.
The July 23 paddleboarding incident that resulted in the death of former White House chef and personal chef to the Obama family, Tafari Campbell, in the water near his Martha's Vineyard estate stirred minds investigators frustrated by the fact of building a stone wall where transparency was expected.
After having remained vigilant in researching the facts, Judicial Vigilance reported Tuesday that its latest response to a Freedom of Information Act request had revealed that the U.S. Secret Service vessels were inoperable at the time of the crash.
The Department of Homeland Security documents amounted to 31 pages of records in which the effort to locate Campbell was stymied by the need to use a third boat belonging to the gardener after the agency's vehicles malfunctioned.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton posted on social media how the Secret Service report described an agent and a supervising agent “tried to start one of the boats but had difficulty lowering the engine. I went down with [redacted] but told him to continue down and called SA [redacted] and SAA [redacted] that he would run to get the keys to our ship USSS. I sprinted to the CP [Command Post], grabbed the keys and sprinted back to the boats. A similar problem happened with the second boat's engine. We jumped into a third boat that belonged to the gardener and it worked without a hitch.”

“In addition, at least one, and possibly several, agents from the Secret Service office in Little Rock, Ark., were involved in the search for Campbell's body,” the Judicial Watch statement revealed.
An inter-office email sent from a senior special agent in Little Rock to a person identified as “Chief” in the days after the incident said: “In case you receive calls from headquarters about the incident at Martha's Vineyard regarding the drowning, I am attaching. a brief report of what happened and our involvement. No one has asked me for a report yet, but I'm sure they will.”
“It is disturbing that Secret Service vessels are not operational for this emergency situation,” Fitton said in a statement. “This new information may explain why the Secret Service is still hiding video related to the tragic drowning.”
According to DHS documents, “After a detailed review of all potentially sensitive records, 31 pages were released in part, 2 pages were withheld in full, and 1 video was withheld in full.”
Also withheld was the identity of the woman who had been with Campbell at the time of the incident, referred to in the report as “Ms. Taylor.”
“The same report notes that former President Obama arrived at the scene of the incident and the search was halted so that President Obama could speak with the eyewitness,” Judicial Watch stated before sharing an excerpt that read: “We continue our search with flashlights Shortly after we were called to Wilson's Landing as FPOTUS Obama was there and the local fire department along with the Massachusetts Police Department and other local agencies were setting up an incident command post. He had wanted to talk to [redacted]. The first EMS/Police response we saw may have been within an hour. I remember seeing a small police or fire boat scanning the coast just after dark.”
