An apparent good guy with a gun flipped an armed robber. A Chicago store manager shot and killed an armed would-be robber.

The would-be thief entered the O’Reilly Auto Parts store in Chicago’s Calumet Heights neighborhood on Saturday. The man, who is said to be between 30 and 40 years old, fired a firearm and demanded money from the store’s cash register, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The store manager, who police said is a valid Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) card holder, shot the robber to thwart the reported crime.

The suspect was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries, according to police.

Video footage from WFLD shows multiple bullet holes at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store. The footage also shows a gun near the store’s entrance.

Police have not yet identified the dead suspect.
