Chaos breaks out at New York rally supporting Kamala Harris, police arrest at least 14 [VIDEOS]

A rally in Harlem in support of Kamala Harris turned chaotic Wednesday after anti-Israel protesters interrupted the event and caused significant damage to a nearby restaurant.

The event, held at a small venue in upper Manhattan, saw Mayor Eric Adams and other prominent Democrats, including City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul, address the crowd

Adams urged those in attendance to vote as demonstrators protesting Israel's military actions in Gaza were forcibly removed.

Despite the rally's intent to rally support for Harris, she and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, were notably absent.

The protest, which broke out after the main event, continued at the Bird in Hand restaurant at Broadway and West 146th Street, where the crowd of about 50 protesters caused damage estimated at thousands of dollars.

Footage from the scene showed protesters storming the restaurant, setting off smoke bombs and vandalizing property.

The chaos included police making at least 14 arrests and one protester allegedly trying to hit officers with a cardboard sign. The phrase “Free Gaza” was spray-painted on a police car and an anti-Israel sign was placed in the restaurant's window.

Restaurant owner Brian Felicetta reported damage to his outdoor seating area was extensive, attributing the destruction primarily to damaged flowers. He expressed frustration over the incident, noting the impact on his small business and the baffling nature of the attack. Felicetta praised the police for their quick response and their staff for their handling of the situation.

The Democratic National Convention will begin in Chicago in a few days, with Governor Hochul expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming event and the party's outlook.
