Cat Lady Convention Attendees Hug Kamala Harris, JD Vance reports

Attendees at a cat convention in California showed their support for Vice President Kamala Harris as they embraced being “childless cat” women, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Peace told the outlet that he received many compliments on his shirt throughout the day. Elsewhere at the convention, vendors were selling T-shirts with phrases such as “Childless Cat Lady Ready To Force My Misery On Conservatives” and “Kittens For Kamala,” according to photos from the event.

“I don't understand people who have problems with pets or cat women,” said Dug Rusinek, a salesman, according to the LA Times. “Women shouldn't be birthing machines.”

Rusinek added that conservatives who care about families should be more concerned about climate change, according to the outlet.

Vance defended her comments in a July interview on The Megyn Kelly Show, saying, “It's not a criticism of people who don't have children. … It's a criticism of the Democratic Party for becoming anti-family and anti-child.”

Democrats have been trying use Vance's comment to paint the candidate as “weird,” repeatedly using the word in reference to him.

Harris official The campaign store has also received the 'cat lady' comment, selling t-shirts and mugs that say 'Proud Member Of The Childless Cat Lady Club'.

“Frankly, 'cat lady' used negatively is sexist,” Susan Michals, founder and organizer of the convention, told the LA Times. “It implies the opposite of an accomplished woman, but that's not 1900 anymore.”

CatCon attendees could be seen dressed in cat ears, cat tails and even full-body cat costumes throughout the venue, according to the LA Times.

CatCon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
