Democratic Party strategist James Carville is convinced that President Joe Biden staying in the 2024 race is exactly what Donald Trump wants.
“What we're doing now, we're doing exactly what Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago wants us to do,” he said Friday on MSNBC. “If the Democratic Party is determined to please Donald Trump, go ahead and [run Biden]. It's that simple.”
He then criticized so-called “Washington types” who have rejected his idea of former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton holding town halls to choose a Biden replacement.
“Well, I don't care [what they think]!” he exclaimed. “Do something! Don't stand there! The facts are that we are on our way to losing an election to a big criminal who will destroy the Western alliance, the Constitution and everything in between. So we should act like this”.
To me, the only ones who have shown a desire to destroy the Constitution are Democrats like Biden and Carville.
Listen to Carville below:
MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell asked him if he thinks top Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries share his deeply pessimistic view of the election.
“I think they're mortified,” Carville replied. “I think they want to make a change. I think they see the path we're on. “Think about it. You know exactly what Donald Trump wants us to do. You know exactly what Steve Bannon wants us to do, and we're determined to please them.”
“I think it's a big mistake. I thought so. I still do. I'm very unlikely to change my mind because of some technical reasons about how a town hall is built,” he added.
To conclude his remarks, he warned that Democratic donors are closing the spigot because of their unhappiness with Biden.
“The donor class is closing,” he said. “I know these people. Not only are they cutting off contributions to the Biden campaign, they're cutting off contributions to the Senate committee, to the House committee.”
“Unlike me, all I can do is keep my mouth shut. That would make a lot of people happy. But they close their wallets and make a lot of people unhappy, and that's happening, a very underrated story, and it goes beyond from the top of the ticket,” he added.
Although he was often wrong, Carville was 100 percent right Friday that Trump wanted Biden to stay and that Democratic donors would turn off the thorn to show their opposition to the president's candidacy.
BREAKING: Major Democratic donors to the largest pro-Biden super PAC have frozen $90 million in pledged donations, according to the NYT, until Joe Biden leaves office. Reports say a “coordinated democratic rebellion” will be underway over the next 48 hours. pic.twitter.com/4e4aWmaHOj

“Some top Democratic donors have told the largest pro-Biden super PAC, Future Forward, that approximately $90 million worth of pledges are on hold if President Biden remains at the top of the ticket,” he reported Friday The New York Times, citing its sources.
“The frozen contributions include multiple eight-figure pledges. … The decision to withhold such huge sums of money is one of the most concrete examples of the fallout from Mr. Biden's poor debate performance in late June,” the Times added.
Meanwhile, Politico confirmed Thursday that former President Trump's “advisors and allies” were all excited about President Biden's press conference earlier in the evening.
How previously informedthe president performed well enough to survive but not well enough to avoid ridicule.
Speaking from the NATO summit Thursday afternoon, the president held a press conference during which he sought to reassure his critics that he will stick around long enough to serve as president for another four years.
According to critics such as conservative commentator and radio talk show host Ben Shapiro, he barely performed well enough to stay in the race:
He got off to a rough start and is still having rough patches… but that's good enough to keep him in the race. Terrible news for Democrats and excellent news for Trump.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) July 12, 2024
But, as Shapiro noted, he “got off to a rough start.” How is it? By specifically referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.”
He also referred to his chief of staff as his “commander-in-chief,” stumbled when reading a list of reporters, and confused Russia and China at least five times.
