California Governor Gavin Newsom takes unprecedented action and deploys the National Guard to San Francisco

In an unexpected development, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has deployed the National Guard to assist in the Democratic-led cleanup and policing efforts in San Francisco.

Newsom announced the unprecedented collaboration between the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the California National Guard (CalGuard), the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) and the District Attorney’s Office of San Francisco (SFDA) to combat the city’s escalating fentanyl crisis. This move comes as a dramatic response to the gravity of the situation, highlighting the urgency with which the state government is tackling the problem.

Newsom said his administration will focus on “dismantling fentanyl trafficking and disrupting the city’s supply of the deadly drug by holding accountable the operators of large-scale drug trafficking operations.”

“Two truths can coexist at the same time: San Francisco’s violent crime rate is below comparably sized cities like Jacksonville and Fort Worth, and we also need to do more to address public safety issues, especially the fentanyl crisis Newsom said.

“We are taking measures. Through this new collaborative partnership, we are providing more law enforcement resources and personnel to crack down on crimes related to the fentanyl crisis, holding poison sellers accountable, and increasing law enforcement presence to improve public safety and public confidence in San Francisco,” he added.

“The San Francisco Police Department has been working hard to stop drug trafficking by making countless arrests and seizures of narcotics,” said San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott.

“Despite our continued work and close collaboration with the District Attorney, the fentanyl crisis has contributed to hundreds of drug overdose deaths.

“We welcome the support of our state partners because when we work together we can make a significant difference in making our city safer.”

“CalGuard is seeing significant success supporting multi-agency task forces banning fentanyl across our state,” said Maj. Gen. Matthew P. Beevers of the California National Guard.

“We hope to achieve the same success by working with our partners in San Francisco,” he added.

Newsom also took a brief stroll through San Francisco’s Tenderloin district to survey the human misery and remnants of decades of radical left-wing politics.
