The corporate media's latest attempt to brand former President Donald Trump as a racist was met with pushback from a congressman who claimed, “I understood what the president was talking about.”

Leftists clamored over the weekend in their effort to attribute racism to Trump's attempt to reach out to black voters. When Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R) joined NBC News anchor Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press” Sunday, he readily backed up the president's point.
When he brought the congressman, Welker aired a clip from Trump's remarks on Friday where Donalds had introduced him at the Black Conservative Federation's BCF Annual Honors Gala. There, the former commander-in-chief had said in part, “And then they accused me a second time and then a third and a fourth time! And a lot of people said that's why they like black people, because they've been so hurt and discriminated against . And they actually saw me as — I'm being discriminated against. It's been pretty incredible.”
“Congressman,” Welker chimed in, “it sounds like Donald Trump was implying that he can win over black voters because they're accused all the time too. Is that what he was saying?”
Ready to defend the president, Donalds expressed, “Well, I think it's part of it, it's part of it, Kristen,” before indicating that Americans are united in their concerns about the economy and national security .
“When you stick to the fact that yes, this is political persecution by the Department of Justice and radical DAs across our country,” he continued, “this is something that black people have to deal with the own justice system.”
Welker accepted the lawmaker's suggestion that there was some impropriety with the allegations against the GOP figure and covered herself carefully as she responded: “Congressman, let's be clear. The four impeachments against former President Trump were presented by grand juries. There is no evidence that the indictments are political in nature.”
Returning to race, the host shared a quote from President Joe Biden's campaign co-chairman, former Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond (D), who had reacted to Friday's speech: “Donald Trump stating that black Americans they're going to support him because of his criminal charges are insulting. He's a jerk. And he's just plain racist.”
Former Democratic National Committee Acting Chair Donna Brazile had reacted similarly on ABC's “This Week” as she had a heated exchange with former Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus.
“Reince, this isn't a conversation about who has a record or not, okay?” brazilian he had said after Preibus brought up Biden and former President Barack Obama. “Because we know Donald Trump's record. This is about the future. And what Donald Trump said were racist tropes and it's insulting and demeaning to basically go to black people and say, 'Oh, you don't like the fact that I have 91 convictions? Don't want to see this photo? hell no We want freedom, justice and equality like everyone else.”
Donalds responded to Richmond's comment by saying: “Cedric is trying to play politics and use racial politics even now as we go into the general election.”
“The number one reason why minority voters want to support Donald Trump is because he did the job of president, he did a great job as president, our country was safe, the economy was great, these are all things that Donald Trump talked about on Friday night,” he reiterated before Welker tried to victimize the lawmaker.
“Were you offended by his comments, MP?” asked the host.
“No, it wasn't. Because I understood what the president was talking about,” Donalds stated.
