Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume is having a hard time swallowing President Biden's malarkey about his sudden epiphany that he had to drop out of the 2024 presidential race for the sake of “democracy.”
On Wednesday night, President Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office in an 11-minute speech that appeared as a political ad for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. It's the first time he's spoken publicly since announcing he's ending his campaign and passing the torch to his DEI vice president. The left and the mainstream media are already spewing massive amounts of propaganda about Harris and trying to whitewash his political history while making American voters forget.
Hume didn't quite understand Biden's fractured logic for withdrawing from the presidential race.
“When the president heard that, he was fine with running for re-election, he thought he could win the race and serve another four years until sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning, when it dawned on him , apparently, that it was time for a new generation of leaders,” Hume remarked.

“Politician reported that Biden told top aides early Saturday that his campaign was going “full steam ahead” despite growing calls from members of his party to step aside after a disastrous performance at the CNN presidential debate in Atlanta,” Fox News reported. “However, later that night, the president appeared to change his mind about the direction of his re-election bid after speaking with two of his closest aides.”
A letter that was not on White House letterhead was posted on X under Biden's account on Sunday afternoon announcing that he would be “resigning” from the 2024 race.
In the President's address to the nation, he declared that it was time to “pass the torch to a new generation.”
“Biden reflected on his administration's accomplishments over the past three years, but argued that he would not seek re-election because 'defending democracy' is 'more important than any title,'” Fox News noted.

“There was enough mention of democracy and its sanctity to suggest that there was more than a little political motivation in his speech, since democracy and its salvation has been such a theme of his election program and by Kamala Harris,” Hume commented. Fox News features Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum on Biden's brief speech. “But it was quite an overnight conversion, it seems if you believe it. I'm not sure I do.”
“I think when we all look back at all of this in the fullness of time and perhaps with a better explanation of exactly what the decision-making process that the president went through, it will become inevitable once this debate occurs that it should be left on the side. and that someone else should come forward”, he predicted.
Joe Biden did not “pass the torch” to Kamala Harris, as he so falsely claimed in his sad and uninspiring speech tonight. He had his presidency and career torched by Democrat incendiaries Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, Clooney, etc. pic.twitter.com/b2KjG3WnW5

The co-host of “The Five”, Dana Perino, even lamented that the speech sounded like a “mini State of the Union”. He hinted that he did nothing to assure him that Biden is able to serve out the rest of his term as president.
“It was like something I could have given in January 2025. It sounded hollow to me,” he declared. “He didn't answer any of those questions, and I don't think that's going to help Kamala Harris as she tries to break up with him as she tries to get this nomination and try to beat Donald Trump.”
