Hard-pressed American taxpayers are footing the $116 million bill in Massachusetts for illegal immigrants to live in luxury while Democratic leaders cry poor.
The documents show the massive cost of housing for illegal immigrants in Boston and across the state, while Massachusetts is struggling to maintain its shelter system.
“Records obtained by the I-Team show the state has 17 housing contracts totaling more than $116 million. Those contracts are only for fiscal year 2024 and expire in June. CBS News reported
Sen. Peter Durant (R-Worcester) told CBS News, “This is something that we've been asking the administration for information about for the better part of a year and we've gotten the information. So I think because you get it, I think it's very important.”

The state reportedly pays hotels up to $63 a day per person for meals. That breaks down to $16 for breakfast, $17 for lunch, and $31 for dinner. All courtesy of taxpayers.
“Last August, Massachusetts Governor Maura T. Healey declared a state of emergency, saying the state had more than 20,000 migrants in its reception system. daily mail pointed out.
“Overcapacity has necessitated the use of hotels for emergency shelters, but earlier this month the state opened a new 400-bed temporary facility at Boston's Melnea Cass Recreation Center” , the medium said.
Massachusetts is following the example of another Democrat-led illegal immigrant disaster in New York and has a long-standing right-to-host law that requires the state to provide shelter to those in need. This includes not only shelter, but also basic cooking capabilities, and if a facility does not have one, the state must arrange for food delivery.

“Spinelli Ravioli Manufacturing Company in East Boston, a full-service catering company with 30 years of experience in the industry, was awarded a $10 million, six-month no-bid contract to provide and deliver meals,” CBS wrote News. .
“As an approved state vendor, Spinelli's was contacted at the beginning of the crisis. We are not the exclusive meal vendor and do not have a guaranteed contract, or financial arrangement, beyond this initial contingency period. We are currently in the bidding process for a long-term contract and look forward to continuing to assist the State and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities in achieving their goals,” the vendor told CBS News.
what a racket Guaranteed money for hotels too, courtesy to the taxpayer. And you know they don't get “AAA” rates.

The state's Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities says the no-bid contract is justified by the tsunami of demand from illegal immigrants. Spinelli's contract expires at the end of March.
Senator Durant says the contracts are only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the overall cost of the crisis, “The cost of MassHealth and the cost of education. That's the concern is that the money has to come from somewhere and so there are only two options. Either you raise taxes or you cut services. So all of this flows right down to the taxpayers.”
“In January, Governor Maura Healey proposed an $873 million supplemental budget that would help pay for the current shelter shortfall. The rest of the money would be used for the projected cost of emergency assistance in 2025,” CBS News reported.
Massachusetts has asked families to open their homes to illegal immigrants to help with the overflow.

The state's newest emergency shelter in the Cass Recreation Center in Roxbury has already reached its limit of 400 people in just one week. To make room for illegal immigrants, numerous groups were started, including the Boston United Track and Cross Country Club, which helps children from some of Boston's poorest neighborhoods, according to the Daily Mail.
