More than a decade with the US Secret Service left syndicated host Dan Bongino explaining the “absolutely catastrophic” failure with a surprising point about what “worried” the agency.
“…go to a leftist search engine if you think I'm biased.”

On Sunday morning, the NYPD officer turned Secret Service agent didn't hold back when he joined “Fox & Friends Weekend” to add his take on the former president's assassination attempt donald trump Speaking with co-hosts Will Cain, Rachel Campos-Duffy and Pete Hegseth, Bongino brought up what amounted to a “victory lap” by agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi as he fielded calls to see investigations and resignations.
“It says in their X post, and you can read it yourself, you don't need to hear it from me, that they deployed these additional resources and technology. Okay, which ones?” noted the commenter gesturing at the statement that said: “There is a false claim that a member of the former president's team requested additional security resources and that they were refused. This is absolutely false. From indeed, we've added protection resources, technology and capabilities as part of the campaign's increased pace of travel.”

“Really? Let a sniper 150 meters away from the possible next president shoot a piece of his ear. Is this your victory lap?” Bongino wondered in disbelief at the tragedy that claimed the life of a spectator. “The failure here is absolutely catastrophic.”
Given that the agency sometimes uses local resources to help and that the sniper team accredited with the threat neutralized, they may not have been actual Secret Service agents, he argued, “You're telling me the best technology you have was deployed and you lost a shooter at 130 yards (let's say it was 200 yards), the Secret Service CS team., the Counter Sniper teams, and I'm not sure these two guys are Secret Service…we're trained at 1,000 yards with the Counter Sniper team they missed someone at most a fifth of the way? It makes no sense.”
Meanwhile, while being asked about the resources used, including possible drones, Bongino denounced an approach by the agency, telling Fox News hosts and viewers to “look for the red ribbons of the US Secret Service Donald Trump.”
“The Secret Service was more concerned about the protective agents around Donald Trump, if you think I'm making this up … go to a left-wing search engine if you think I'm biased. Go to Scroogle,” he mocked -se of Google, “…they were more concerned about the color of Secret Service agents' ties around Donald Trump, given the perception that a red tie was somehow: I have red ties. I'm a Republican, it has nothing to do with it. I like red bows. They go well with white shirts.”
“That's what the Secret Service was concerned about,” the podcast host said.
Reiterating a point I had made repeatedly on social media, Bongino said: “The director of the Secret Service has completely failed and frankly, he should resign today.”
He supported his view by countering Guglielmi's point, suggesting, “The Secret Service should be very careful, I can tell you that and I can confirm that absolutely from the horse's mouth, from several people, not just there have been repeated requests for increased security around not only Donald Trump's residences, but the body itself.”
“They failed absolutely, decisively, 100 percent,” the former agent said. “Not a single excuse should be made. Not a single excuse should be attempted. This should be the subject of congressional hearings and investigations, because if they can't do it and that's the best technology you have, then people, has no purpose anymore. This is not the agency I grew up in.”
Bongino added an exclamation point to his fiery take: “This was an apocalyptic security failure and never forget it. A failure without incident is never a success. And the fact that Donald Trump didn't die yesterday is not reason for no one to do some kind of victory lap.”
