Billy Ray Cyrus, the renowned country singer, has accused his wife, Firerose, of fraudulently spending his credit card. Cyrus recently filed an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order, alleging that Firerose, whose legal name is Johanna Hodges, made 37 unauthorized charges to her American Express business card.
Cyrus expressed concern that Hodges may have access to other information that could be used to make unauthorized charges to his credit cards and personal and business accounts. However, Hodges has refuted these claims, stating that he has had access to the American Express card since 2022 and that the alleged 37 unauthorized charges are not true.
The couple, who married in October 2023, are currently in the midst of divorce proceedings. Cyrus had previously agreed to provide financial support to Hodges during this period, including a stipend for temporary accommodation and a monthly housing allowance.
In May, Cyrus filed for an annulment against Hodges, citing irreconcilable differences and alleging marital misconduct. Grounds for annulment were listed as consent to marriage was obtained by fraud. The separation date was May 22, 2024.
Cyrus believes that Hodges is not the person she thought she married. Sources close to the singer suggest he believes Hodges married him for financial security rather than love, leading to trust issues around money. Despite the current disappointment, Cyrus is expected to bounce back quickly, given her generally positive outlook.
Firerose and Cyrus first met on the set of Hannah Montana over 13 years ago. Their October 2023 wedding was held at the musician's estate in Tennessee and was described as a “beautiful and joyous day” as their “two souls joined as one in holy matrimony.”
