Biden's scripted interview edited on behalf of a request from his campaign [VIDEO]

A Milwaukee radio station recently admitted to altering an interview with Joe Biden at the campaign's request.

Civic Media, known for its progressive stance, admitted to failing to meet its supposed “journalistic interview standards” by making two requested edits to the taped interview.

The interview, conducted for a post-presidential debate by Earl Ingram, was manipulated in two critical places, both revolving around Biden's comments about the American black community, according to the Milwaukee Journals Sentinel.

The changes, according to Civic Media:

  1. At 5:20, the removal of “…and on top of that, I have more black people in my administration than any other president, all other presidents combined, and in major positions, cabinet positions.”
  2. At 2:15 p.m., referring to Donald Trump's call for the death penalty for the Central Park Five, the removal of “I don't know if they're even asking for the hanging or not, but he, but they said […] convicted of murder”.

The requested edits removed Biden's claims to have more black individuals in his administration than all previous presidents combined, along with a reference to the Central Park Five case where Biden made controversial comments about the death penalty.

In response to the backlash, the broadcaster promised to release the unedited version, but admitted it fell short of listeners' expectations.

Civic Media, realizing its misstep, explained that after the Biden campaign requested edits immediately after taping, the production team perceived the edits as trivial and proceeded to air the segments of the modified interview.

“With a high-profile interview, the listener expects journalistic interview standards to be applied, even for non-news programming. We failed to meet those expectations. Civic Media disagrees with judgments of the team at this time, both regarding the handling of the interview questions and the decision to edit the audio of the interview – Civic media

They admitted that the team's handling of the interview questions and the decision to edit the audio did not align with journalistic standards, and promised to rectify their policies going forward.

Earl Ingram, a well-known Biden supporter, was one of the radio personalities who accepted scripted questions from the Biden campaign for interviews.

Ingram confessed to receiving predetermined questions, a practice also adopted by Philadelphia's Andrea Lawful-Sanders.

Lawful-Sanders parted ways with hosting The Source at WURD in Philadelphia after using pre-selected questions in his interview with Biden.

WURD issued a statement emphasizing its disapproval of the default questions, claiming they undermined trust and saying they were not part of its standard operating procedures.
