Biden's comment to “put Trump in a bullseye” overshadows the shooting

For all the talk of a so-called January 6, 2021 insurrection, the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Saturday marked a new date of infamy: July 8, 2024.

It was on that date that President Joe Biden called to put Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee in 2024, “in a crosshairs,” suggesting a real rebellion against democracy.

“We're done talking about the debate, it's time to put Trump in the mirror,” Biden said on a call with hundreds of top Democratic donors and aides.

“Defend this. Come in. Try to defend that rhetoric after what we just witnessed with Trump an inch away from being killed,” media reporter and Fox News contributor Joe Concha posted.

You may recall that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — a Republican — was ambushed by the media in 2011 for a political ad that used rifle sights after former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot by a constituent.

Palin was accused of fueling the gunman's rage when her political action committee SarahPac placed crosshairs on congressional districts, including Giffords' district, to target during the upcoming election.

Democrats have spent the last eight years demonizing Trump and even referring to him as Hitler, being the same cabal that is suddenly calling for the temperature of political rhetoric to be turned down.

Note that House Democrats, led by Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the former chairman of the Jan. 6 Select Committee, recently introduced a bill that would strip Secret Service protections from those who have been convicted under federal law. or state crime that carries a minimum sentence of one year in prison.

Trump, who is awaiting sentencing in his hush money criminal trial, was the clear target of the effort.

As for Thompson, a person identified as the Democrat's field director responded to Trump's near-assassination with a post: “I don't condone violence, but please take some shooting lessons so you don't lose next time, oops, that wasn't me talking.”
