Despite growing calls for him to drop out of the race, President Joe Biden is doubling down with another prime-time TV interview.
Biden's debate performance made clear what everyone who's been paying attention already knew: He's not the man he used to be. Even staunch democrats i their allies they are asking him to step aside and let a different candidate take his place in the presidential race.
It looks like Team Biden isn't ready to throw in the towel, however, and has scheduled another interview with “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” to air on July 15.

This comes after a rather dubious interview with ABC News' George Stephanopolous, during which the president claimed he has “a cognitive test every day.”
“Every day I've been tested. Everything I do. You know, I'm not just campaigning, I'm running the world. And that's not, it sounds like hyperbole, but we're the central nation of the world,” he said Biden.
He also flatly rejected anyone asking him to drop out of the race.
“If the Lord Almighty came down and said, 'Joe, get out of the race,' I would get out of the race, but the Lord Almighty will not come down.”
Stephanopolous himself made headlines after his chat with Biden after a passerby asked him if he thought the president should pull over. The host responded with a shocking “I don't think I can make it four more years” that quickly went viral, much to the chagrin of ABC News.
As BizPac Review reported, an ABC News boss gave the loose-lipped host a stern lecture about his outspoken behavior and even warned he could be taken off the air if he didn't apologize.
“This was a full-blown crisis and it erupted with far-reaching repercussions,” said an anonymous insider.

X users took note of the news that Biden would attempt another interview, likely hoping to rehabilitate his public image and restore faith in his leadership abilities:

A solid choice, Lester Holt has a history of not talking to random passers-by and telling them to “get a load of the major dementia patient I just interviewed.”

This is after bedtime, so it can't be live

Although it will be written a lot, that doesn't seem to matter to President Biden anymore. This should be entertaining to say the least.

If it's not live and a hard-hitting interview/press conference, why bother?
Why worry?
