The president's comment in defense of his mental faculties left a Fox News correspondent using air quotes as he added, “whatever.”

Marching orders were issued to Democrats on Monday as a letter attributed to President Joe Biden outlined the party's approach to November with the incumbent described as the “best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024.” As the “recessed” executive found narrative refuge with corporate media allies at MSNBC, his claim to have had a “neurological physicist” baffled Fox News correspondent Gillian Turner.
Following Chief Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram's report on House Republicans discussing options related to the 25th Amendment, Turner joined “America's Newsroom” from the White House lawn and presented a defense of Biden earlier Monday via a call to “Morning Joe.”
“He said that the big names who are questioning him now, be it the media, politicians or political competitors, are wrong. They were wrong in 2020 and they are wrong again. Now, he went on the defense when it came to his health and mental and physical health. He said that interestingly, he said he had a neurologist, a neurological physical in February, whatever,” the former National Security Council employee explained of the White House.
“And when he was asked in no uncertain terms if he'd had any concerns about his cognitive health, if he'd had any tests, he had a rambling response,” he added, introducing the clip.
“I had it before, I felt so bad before the debate that I came back that they tested me before. I thought maybe I had COVID, maybe there was something wrong – I had an infection or something. They put me on test. I was given these tests. I was clear, but, look, I had a bad night,” Biden told MSNBC's Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. “But the thing is, look at what I'm doing. I mean, let me put it this way. If there was anything that went wrong that night, it's not like I came and one night went . That's why I went out. I've been testing myself, I've been testing myself everywhere.”
Turner referenced Biden's letter to Democrats announcing his refusal to stand aside: “So this is the president now defending himself in the media. This comes as congressional leaders return to Capitol Hill today. And we'll see more movement, presumably the more dominoes falling in the race, the more calls for him to withdraw from this race.”
In the letter, the president asked to stop the discussion about his candidacy and expressed: “The question of how to move forward has been in the air for more than a week. And it's time for it to end.”
However, many questions remained about Biden's mental faculties, especially from the House Oversight and Accountability Committee which issued a letter of his own Sunday to the White House physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor.
In it, they raised concerns that the doctor's trial could be compromised by a connection to Biden's alleged influence peddling, specifically regarding a $200,000 “loanback” from the Americore hospital network where O'Connor had worked with the president's brother, James Biden.
How it had been pointed outIn February, the president had an appointment with O'Connor at Walter Reed Medical Center on the same day his son Hunter Biden participated in closed-door testimony with the committee.
Turner stated that more questions would be asked as he informed Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer, “We have a press conference at 1:30. We'll be asking … the press secretary.”
