On Friday, Joe Biden temporarily suspended approval of pending and upcoming applications to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from new projects, Reuters reported.

That decision could delay the determination of new facilities until after the Nov. 5 election, including the CP2 facility proposed for Louisiana's southwest coast.

During this pause, the Department of Energy (DOE) will conduct an assessment to assess the “economic and ecological consequences” of proposed projects to export LNG to Europe and Asia, regions that currently have a high demand for this fuel.
