Before making the surprise announcement, Biden and Harris had several phone conversations.
After Biden's endorsement, Harris made frantic calls to more than 100 Democratic party leaders, politicians and donors in an effort to rally support.
Remarkably, she arrived to former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, although Obama refrained from offering a direct endorsement, expressing his confidence in the party's ability to select an outstanding candidate.
After Biden's announcement, Harris expressed his gratitude for his vote of confidence and his determination to secure the Democratic nomination.

I am honored to have the President's endorsement and my intention is to win and win this nomination.
