Beverly Hills residents outraged by squatters turning abandoned mansion into 'party house'

-

Beverly Hills residents are furious that squatters are taking over an abandoned mansion and turning it into a “party house.”

“They started having these crazy parties at crazy hours of the night,” a neighbor, Fran Solomon, told the local station. KNBC. “There have been trucks unloading things that we can't quite identify in the middle of the night.”

“Narcotics have been seen in the cars in the house. These revelers ring the neighbors' doorbells at two and four in the morning”, he added.

Speaking to local station KABC, Solomon added that he's worried that emergency vehicles (like an ambulance) couldn't even get through because of all the pranks and antics at the party.

“There's a pit bull roaming around with kids around,” he said. “There are people drunk and stoned, staggering, going in and out, and then driving the cannons. Does someone have to be killed before the police do something?”

More information below:

“It's not like people are showing up at 8:00 or 9:00 at night,” said another neighbor, Rick. “They'll show up at 2:00 in the morning with cars, motorcycles, Ubers. They're parking everywhere. They're blocking the streets.”

Solomon, Rick and other neighbors say the squatters have been living in the house and throwing parties for months, even charging people for admission.

But apparently the LAPD hasn't been able to do anything so far because the mansion's ownership status is “complicated,” as KABC puts it.

“It was owned by disgraced doctor Munir Uwaydah, who fled the United States and is said to be living in Lebanon after being accused of playing a role in the murder of 21-year-old model Julianna Redding, with whom had left,” the station reported. notes

“Uwaydah has also been linked to an insurance fraud scheme. The company, MDRCA Properties LLC, is currently listed as the owner, but they filed for bankruptcy last year. The home is currently for sale for $4.5 million,” according to KABC.

It is further complicated by the fact that the squatters have had their driver's licenses registered at their address, which has slowed down the long and arduous process of eviction.

“They claim they had a showing and were able to sign a one-year lease for $25,000, which on the face of it is ridiculous,” neighbors told KABC. “You don't rent that kind of house for that.”

“It should be $25,000 a month. We actually have a copy of the lease and the names on the lease are fictitious. The email addresses don't exist. The phones have been disconnected,” they added.

Solomon, who rents the house he owns to someone else, said the situation was heartbreaking.

“We rented in good faith, and they rented in good faith and here they are in this situation where they're hiring an armed security guard to protect them and their family,” he said. “That's how concerned our tenant is about their safety.”

Rick, meanwhile, is hopeful that the squatters will be evicted soon now that the city attorney's office is involved, though he admits it could still take months, which Solomon doesn't like.

“This is a very affluent area, paying exorbitant taxes, and we can't seem to get the right response from the LAPD to shut it down,” he said. “Law-abiding citizens receive no protection from criminals who have taken over a home that does not belong to them.”

Squatters don't just affect regular residents of Beverly Hills, they also affect celebrities.

“Among the residents of the affluent Beverly Crest neighborhood are singer John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen, Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane and Entourage and Ballers producer Steve Levinson, while LA Lakers star. [LeBron] James is currently building his dream home a stone's throw from the occupied home,” according to the daily mail.

Also, James' housekeeper said he has had to put security guards outside the house 24 hours a day because of the festivities.

“”I heard from my security team up there about all the crazy cars, crazy parties at night, how sometimes we can't get into our property because they're blocking the street with their cars and just the nuisance. at night with loud music and people floating in the street,” he said.

“It's one of the reasons why we have 24/7 security. Otherwise, there's no need for 24/7 security because it's just a construction site,” he added.
