Beloved singer Dolly Parton touches cancel culture, Kid Rock defends

Dolly Parton is a national treasure.

When the queen of country talks about cancellation culture, people from all walks of life listen.

Parton said The Hollywood Reporter that canceling culture is “terrible”.

“We all make mistakes,” said the iconic singer. “We don’t all screw up. But also when somebody makes a mistake, it depends on who it is. God is there for that.”

“Now, I believe in God; I’m a faith-based person, so I’m able to see it that way. A lot of people don’t, but still, everyone deserves a second chance,” he continued. “You deserve to be innocent until proven guilty. Even when you are proven guilty, if God can forgive you, so can I. If God can forgive you, we should all forgive one another.”

He talked about the duet he did with Kid Rock, “Either Or,” on his new album, “Rockstar,” a pairing that Parton has taken some heat for.

“I did a song with Kid Rock on that album,” Parton explained. “Of course I did it before the controversy it had, but someone said to me the other day, ‘How can you do that? [song] with Kid? I was like, “Hey, just because I love you doesn’t mean I don’t love Kid Rock.” Just because I love Kid Rock doesn’t mean I don’t love you.”

“I don’t condemn or criticize,” he said. “I just accept and love.”

“Like I said, he had done it before, but he probably still would have, because he’s a gifted guy, and that song was about a bad guy; it was about a guy who was cheating on her and abusing her,” Parton added. “But like I say, I love everybody. I do not criticize, I do not condemn or condemn. I just accept them. But anyway, just because he loves you doesn’t mean he doesn’t love Kid Rock in that Godly way.

It’s unclear which Kid Rock controversy Parton was referring to.

How BizPac Review Kid Rock blew up liberal heads when he opened fire with an AR-15 on several cases of Bud Light in protest of the beer’s association with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

“F*ck Bud Light,” he said after shooting the cans. “F*ck Anheuser-Busch!”

The Trump-supporting singer then angered conservatives when, months later, he was photographed with a Bud Light at a Colt Ford concert in Nashville.

Kid Rock isn’t the only controversial star who will be singing with Parton on “Rockstar,” out Nov. 17.

The album features duets with, among others, Steven Tyler, Lizzo and Miley Cyrus, all three of whom have had their questionable moments.

“Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, is being sued by two women who have accused him of sexual assault, allegations he has denied.” Newsweek reports “Lizzo is being sued for allegedly creating a hostile work environment and engaging in sexual harassment, allegations she has denied.”

Cyrus, who is Parton’s goddaughter, “went from teen stardom to adult with sexually provocative music videos and photo spreads,” the channel notes.

Parton sat down with Newsweek for a interview in which he said he does “whatever my heart tells me to do at the time.”

She urged emerging female artists to stick to her “principles”.

“We have to sacrifice and compromise to some degree to get anywhere in any business,” Parton said. “But never sacrifice your principles and your values and who you are. There’s a saying I use over and over again, I guess it’s Shakespeare: “To thine own self be true.” Whoever said that, said gasp.”
