A Soros-funded district attorney who survived the recall is now facing a lawsuit from one of his own prosecutors alleging “sham investigations, suspensions and other retaliatory actions…”.
Soft-on-crime policies and the officials who promoted them have proven to be a blight on the American landscape. On Monday, an accountability effort was launched against one of those figures when the Dhillon Law Group filed a whistleblower retaliation lawsuit against Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón.
Seeking injunctive damages and reparations, Assistant District Attorney Shea Sanna was said to have “incurred [superiors] anger” after the “efforts to maintain their legal and ethical duties despite the significant opposition of DA Gascón and its administration”.
“Dhillon Law Group Inc., represented by Assistant District Attorney Shea Sanna, has filed a complaint against Los Angeles County and District Attorney George Gascón, alleging DA Gascón's extensive campaign of retaliation against Sanna for reporting illegal and unethical conduct to her supervisors and the public,” a press release from the lawsuit detailed.
The allegations within the complaint stated that Gascón and his office pressured Sanna to “delete critical information and subsequently retaliated against him when he refused to comply.”

The suit further claimed that the deputy DA's effort to report issues of alleged suppressed evidence resulted in “sham investigations, suspensions and other retaliatory actions orchestrated by Gascón's office.”
As it had been previously informedSanna was suspended in February 2023 for allegedly “falsifying” and “naming” James “Hannah” Tubbs, the convicted child abuser whom Gascón had refused to prosecute as an adult, instead sentencing him to serve two years in a juvenile detention center. as a 26 year old man.
“In the Tubbs case,” said attorney Anthony Fusaro, “Deputy District Attorney Shea Sanna did nothing more than try to uphold her ethical and legal duties to present all relevant evidence to the court. However, as that this evidence conflicted with DA Gascon's recently promulgated policies and public statements, Gascon sought to suppress it.”
“When Mr. Sanna informed his supervisors and the public of Gascon's suppression efforts, Gascon responded with a relentless campaign of retaliation against Mr. Sanna that persists to this day,” it added.
Speaking on her own behalf, Sanna claimed: “For two years, Gascon has tried to silence me. They have suspended me without pay, threatened my livelihood, attacked my credibility, targeted my reputation, he has degraded me, investigated me, and harassed me, all to obey him; so I would not speak for those most affected by his misguided political policies.”
According to the lawsuit, “Gascón publicly admitted that he tried to 'marginalize' Sanna and other deputy prosecutors who disagree with his ideological view of the department, and has expressed frustration that he cannot fire Sanna without cause.”
Sanna was subsequently suspended again in June 2023 and demoted in October 2023, which included a transfer to the Santa Clarita office and a pay cut before allegedly refusing to promote plaintiff in April 2024.
Seeking a jury trial, the suit's prayer for relief listed general, special and punitive damages, in addition to attorneys' fees and costs, post-judgment interest and “such other relief as the Court deems just and proper.”
