Political scientist Josiah Lippincott reported serious logistical problems, noting that despite waiting 2.5 hours in 90-degree heat, people couldn't find shuttles back to their vehicles. “Complete chaos after Detroit Kamala rally. It's been 2.5 hours and people still can't find shuttles back to their cars. Campaign staff have no idea what's going on. Rally held near a UPS delivery center, so dozens of trucks mix with the buses. The shots are loud,” Lippincott said.
The rally was in the ringed hangar. But it is on a spur of the main road highlighted in red. The arrow is the turning point of the buses. Add in loads of UPS freight trucks, confused campaign staff and tired and hungry rally goers and you get complete chaos. pic.twitter.com/qbe2AAATDl

The confusion was compounded by the presence of numerous white buses, which had been used to transport union members to the event.
The larger white buses in the photos above are not shuttles. They were for union members and others who were transported by the campaign. The Kamalas used school buses as shuttles.

Lippincott, who eventually boarded a bus, found himself alone due to confusion between the dispatch center and bus drivers about drop-off locations.
