Four people in a stolen truck tried to run from police but ended up crashing their vehicle into a police car in the 9600 block of Golf Lakes Trail Thursday.

Police had surrounded them in a parking lot after a Flock license plate reader flagged the truck as stolen.

After checking its location, officers circled the vehicle, but before they could make their move, the driver of the stolen truck hit a marked police car while accelerating out of a parking space.

Surveillance footage revealed that four people got out of the disabled truck and began running in different directions, with one of the suspects, a 17-year-old named Eric Lampkin-Scarborough, armed with a modified handgun that had an extended magazine and a switch

A police officer fired two shots at Scarborough, who was shot but was treated by officers and remained in stable condition Monday.

Two of the other suspects were arrested by police, but one suspect remains at large. Police have not confirmed his identity. The person arrested has been identified as Deantae Moore, 19, and faces pending capital murder charges in connection with the deaths of two 18-year-olds at a Dallas convenience store earlier this year.

The other person arrested is Damon Price, 21, and he was hospitalized after complaining of chest pain.

The suspects were facing multiple charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, evading arrest on foot, aggravated assault on a public servant, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

Police recovered four guns, including two that fell from the stolen truck, one found at the scene where Lampkin-Scarborough was shot and another found during the search for the stolen vehicle. Two of the guns were discovered to be stolen.

While police still aren't sure what the suspects had planned for that afternoon, they believe carjacking is often used to commit more serious crimes.
