On July 2, an Oklahoma City police officer was injured during a confrontation that occurred in northwest Oklahoma City.
The incident occurred when police officers responded to a call about a man holding a gun to someone's head at a home.

Upon arrival, the suspect, identified as Kavon Ragan, shot Sgt. Josh Scott before retiring back to the house.
The situation turned into a confrontation and negotiators were brought in to try to resolve the situation peacefully.
However, Ragan refused to surrender and fired several rounds from the house.
After hours of failed negotiations, another sergeant was forced to open fire, killing Ragan.
Fortunately, no one else was injured during the incident and authorities were able to successfully evacuate people from the home.
Sgt. Scott was taken to a local hospital, underwent surgery and was later released.
