An IRS special agent was killed in Phoenix after being “accidentally” shot by another agent during training on Thursday, reports said. ABC15.
FBI officials confirmed that they are conducting an investigation into the death of the IRS special agent, but did not provide details about what happened.

Federal officials say the gun range where the incident occurred was being used by several federal agencies at the time of the shooting.
The IRS confirmed that one special agent was transported to a local hospital, but did not survive.
ABC15 reported that the special agent was shot by another special agent.
IRS Statement: “We are aware of an incident involving one of our Special Agents that occurred during a routine training exercise at the Federal Correctional Institution, Phoenix Shooting Range. The Agent was immediately transported to HonorHealth Deer Medical Center Valley to be treated for the injury. The officer died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The incident remains under investigation. Our concern today is for the officer and his family.”
FBI Statement: “The FBI Field Office in Phoenix is conducting an investigation into the death of an IRS Special Agent today that occurred at the Federal Correctional Institution, Phoenix Shooting Range. While the range is located on Bureau of Prisons grounds, an interagency agreement allows other law enforcement agencies to use the facility for training purposes. Today, the IRS was within range of routine training. To preserve the integrity and capabilities of the investigation, details of the ongoing process will not be released. The findings of the FBI’s investigation will be turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona for review. The FBI’s investigation will be methodical and thorough in addressing all elements of the incident.”
