
In an act of self-defense, a California homeowner confronted and shot would-be burglars who broke into his home in a Los Angeles neighborhood on Monday, according to police reports.
Authorities say at least two suspects broke into a residence in the San Fernando Valley area of ​​Los Angeles around 3 p.m. The homeowner, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, fired at the intruders, hitting one of them twice.
The second suspect managed to flee before law enforcement arrived on the scene shortly after the incident.

LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz reported that officers found the 25-year-old suspect injured inside the home, located in the 11600 block of Addison Street. The owner, who was alone at the time, was also injured and taken to a local hospital. Details on how the homeowner was injured are still unclear, but Captain Muniz mentioned that the home appeared to have been attacked randomly.
The injured suspect, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. There is currently no information on whether the intruders were armed.
“Two suspects entered a residence with one occupant inside,” said Captain Muniz. “That occupant armed himself with a gun and shot the would-be burglars who were inside his home.”
While the nature of the owner's injuries remains uncertain, it is confirmed that he was hospitalized following the incident. The second suspect, who is still at large, is described as an African-American man in his 20s.
After the attack, police set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and urged residents to stay indoors while they searched for the remaining suspect, reports said. Fox 11.
