U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff quickly went into damage control after the only Republican vying for the Senate seat he's chasing was fired.
The California Democrat joined other members of his party seeking to fill the Senate seat left open by the death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein last year. In a debate Monday, Schiff battled fellow Democrats Reps. Barbara Lee and Katie Porter and all sank their claws into the party's lone Republican, baseball legend Steve Garvey.
There was the predictable rhetoric as Democratic contenders contorted to connect Harvey to Donald Trump while blaming the former president for all the ills that Democratic President Joe Biden inflicted on Americans.
But in an epic moment, Garvey brought the boom down on Schiff, whose face told the full story.
“I think you've been censored for lying,” the 75-year-old former Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres player took on Schiff in his anti-Trump Russian collusion mantra.
Adam Schiff is called out during CA Senate debate by Republican Steve Garvey for lying about Russian collusion:
Garvey: “I think you were censured for lying.”
Schiff: “I was censured for confronting a corrupt president”
Garvey: “Sir, you lied to 300 million people… pic.twitter.com/tqv4YD2kZZ

Schiff visibly lost it, interrupting Garvey and ranting about how he was “censured for standing up to a corrupt president.”
“Politicians who try to determine who we are by race, color or gender, they never listen,” Garvey continued as Schiff gave him the look of death.
When given the chance, the Democrat insisted he respond as he had been called a “liar.”
But when he recounted the facts, tooting his own horn, Garvey shot him down, saying, “Sir, you lied to 300 million people. You can't take that back.”
There was no comeback from the bug-eyed Democrat.
I'm glad the moderators called out Adam Schiff's lie to 300 million Americans. #senateshowdown pic.twitter.com/InmO69a6cA

And in a very telling post shortly after the debate, Schiff took to social media to drive home his point.
Many Republicans like it @SteveyGarvey6 they falsely claim that there is “no evidence of collusion” on the part of Donald Trump.

Schiff's hot air may have won him the approval of his left-leaning fans, but Garvey's searing takedown was celebrated by many at X.
Another home run for Steve Garvey.

“Sir, you lied, REPEATLY, to 300 million people. You can't take that back.”
It would be more accurate…

All you have to do is bring up the subject. He can't help himself, he lives the lie.

When Garvey said you lied to 300 million people, Schiff had a moment… pic.twitter.com/6xx39sg8lB

Schiff, in his response, has just revealed, he lied, and his conscience is clear for lying; because he considered how to stand up to Trump.
We always knew they would do what they had to do… and he in so many words admitted it.
Well done, Garvey. As a Braves fan I don't go…
