Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, Jr. recognized in the Senate on Tuesday that the recent assassination attempt against former President Trump was considered a “Secret Service failure,” with the blame resting solely on their shoulders rather than local law enforcement.

During the hearing before the Senate Homeland Security and Judiciary Committees, Rowe, along with FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate, revealed the failure of a drone detection system that did not go online before the malicious actions of shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks at the demonstration.
🚨 Acting Secret Service Director Rowe just said he has “NO EXPLANATION” why the sc**ter's drone worked, while his own drones wouldn't due to “connectivity issues “.
Also, he says they had NO active counter-drone systems.

A technical malfunction related to the public mobile phone service caused the delay in the activation of the drone system, which only became operational at 17:20 instead of the scheduled start time of 15:00 .
Lawmakers expressed concern about the lack of security coverage where Crooks opened fire on Trump, prompting Rowe to express bewilderment at how such critical oversight occurred.
Rowe mentioned that a local sniper team was supposed to be in place with a direct line of sight to the roof, but had mysteriously abandoned the position.

Despite ongoing investigations, the reason for the team's absence is unknown.
Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri asked Rowe about the absence of any disciplinary action against Secret Service agents in connection with the shooting, but Rowe informed him that decisions would be made after the investigation is complete.
