Almog Levy, a three-year-old boy whose parents were victims of a tragic Hamas terrorist attack, recently celebrated his birthday. His mother was killed and his father was taken hostage on the same day, October 7. The boy, who misses his parents, constantly asks when he will see them again. His immediate family, including grandparents, uncles and aunts, are currently caring for him.
His grandmother, Geula, expressed that although they are doing everything they can to support him, it is not the same as having his parents around. He mentioned that Almog had a birthday party at his kindergarten and his maternal grandparents celebrated with him. Despite the circumstances, they try to make it grow as normal as possible.
Almog received a book with a ginger-haired doll that reminded him of his mother, of which he did not want to turn a page. When asked if he wanted a similar doll, he innocently asked if the doll would pick him up too. His uncle, Michael Levy, described Almog's situation as “heartbreaking” as the boy longs for his parents, but they have no comforting answers to give him.
The families of the hostages and a support group called Hostages Forum have released a video showing the moments when Almog's father, Or Levy, and two others were kidnapped. This was done in an effort to urge the government to negotiate with Hamas for the release of all hostages.
O Levy and his wife Eynav Levy were attending the Supernova music festival near the border of the Gaza Strip when the attack occurred. A massive assault led by the Palestinian terror group Hamas left 1,200 people dead, mostly civilians, and 251 people were taken hostage. The pair sought refuge in a public shelter, but Eynav died in the attack and Or was taken hostage. The images released show the wounded and bleeding hostages being dragged into a vehicle which then headed for Gaza.
