A video viewed by nearly 22 million people captured the precise moment a man was shot, with footage recorded by the victim himself.
The incident took place in August in Friendsville, Tennessee. But there was no spirit of friendship when an older man, Jeffery Scott West, threatened to shoot Kyle Spitze.
It's unclear what ended the dispute, but the strange video begins with West issuing the threat as a woman with shorts around her ankles tries to hold him back. He manages to close the bedroom door as Spitze lies in bed recording the entire exchange.
“Shoot me and I guarantee you'll go to jail for life,” he said as the door closed, not bothering the gun West was holding.

When Spitze hears that West is threatening not only to shoot him, but the woman as well, he gets out of bed and goes to confront her.
“Are you going to blow my mom's brains out?” he asked, before daring, “Point the gun at me again!”
West didn't just point the gun at Spitze, he pulled the trigger. The camera pans down to show the floor, where blood can spill from Spitze.
It turns out he was only hit in the ear and he and the woman managed to get out of the house and call 911, according to WVLT.
As for West, things didn't go well for him.
Blunt County Sheriff's Office SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams arrived at the home and attempted to negotiate with West and get him to surrender, but were unsuccessful.
“A K-9 officer was deployed shortly before 11 p.m. and discovered West dead inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the CBS affiliate reported.
For some, the moral of the story may be don't make fun of a gunman when he threatens to shoot you. Others suggested that all three figures appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Here's a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen in X:

The dedication to keeping this camera running after shooting is impressive

The amount of people who think a person with a gun pointed at them wouldn't shoot really baffles me. pic.twitter.com/yUGFElyOdg

As someone who grew up with this, after playing it 100 times, you don't expect the trigger to go off.
