A violent Florida man runs over a cop during the chase and gets a mud bath for his efforts [VIDEO]

A thief who ran over a Port Orange police officer as he tried to flee in a stolen car was arrested, authorities said. Ah'lijah Aman Mah'di Balk, 20, who was parked at an apartment complex, became violent when officers approached him.

In an effort to get away, he put the car in reverse and ran over one of the officers. During the chase, Balk hit several police cars and eventually lost control of the car, fleeing on foot. Officers arrested him later.

Body camera footage shows an officer pointing what appears to be a taser or a handgun at Balk after he was cornered. The officer demanded that Balk put his hands in the air, but Balk ignored his demands and tackled an officer before fleeing on foot. The video shows the officer pulling Balk to the ground, which eventually led to his arrest.

Balk faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and aggravated battery on an officer, escape, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest with violence, petit larceny, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of ID of another person. No wonder he tried to escape – he has a long list of criminal charges.

He is being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
