A devastating shooting at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, left four people dead and nine others injured. The incident happened Friday at the Mad Butcher store, where the suspect, 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey, opened fire and killed victims between the ages of 23 and 81. Posey is expected to face four counts of capital murder, with additional charges pending. . He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
The shooting began around 11:30 a.m., and law enforcement quickly responded to the scene and engaged in a shootout with Posey. Among the injured were five women and two men, ages 20 to 65 years Four of them remain in hospital, including a woman in critical condition. Three victims were treated and released Friday. Two police officers were also injured in the shooting, one of whom was released from hospital on Saturday evening and another with minor injuries.
The incident is part of a recent surge in shootings across the country, with 24 mass shootings reported since last Friday. This incident brings the total number of mass shootings in the United States in 2024 to at least 238.

Despite the cold and fear, they stayed hidden until they heard the police outside. Once they were escorted out of the store, Doherty was reunited with her twin daughters who had been waiting in the car during the shooting.
