In a shocking incident, a teenager survived a 60ft fall from a cliff at Old Harry Rocks in Dorset with only minor injuries. The boy's fall was reported via a 999 call, and when lifeboat crews arrived on the beach below the cliff, they found him largely unharmed, assisted by a of local activities. Swanage coastguards, who were among the first responders, expressed surprise at the lack of serious injuries.
The boy, who had fallen 60 feet, suffered only minor injuries. After being assessed by ambulance crews, he was released back to his group with stern safety advice about his actions. The incident happened on Thursday when the boy was taking a photo near the edge of the cliff. According to Swanage Coastguard Station Officer Ian Brown, the boy's friends saw him “disappear over the edge” as he made his way towards the cliff.
Despite having been advised of the dangers of approaching the edge of the cliff, the boy had ventured too close, resulting in the fall. The response to the incident was swift and involved teams from Swanage and St Albans Coastguard, Swanage RNLI lifeboats, Dorset Police, South West Ambulance and a critical care team from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Purbeck Police's Swanage team also assisted the coastguard in the rescue operation. Miraculously, the boy suffered only very minor injuries, which has left many in awe of his survival.
