reports indicate that the Ensenada massacre stemmed from a clash between rival factions: the Arellano Félix Cartel (CAF) and the Sinaloa Cartel. The violent confrontation broke out near the San Vicente gas station, a place close to where the participants of a race were fueling their vehicles.
Baja California, located along the border with the United States, has long been a hotbed of cartel activity as criminal organizations compete to control crucial drug and people-trafficking routes.
An armed attack took place this Saturday 20 May in the afternoon at the Sant Vicent branch, in the municipality of Ensenada, on the transpeninsular road, kilometer 90.
