The incident, which took place near Cahita and Rosecrans avenues, saw deputies mobilized to the scene following the first reports.
After about an hour, the scene appeared to be flattening out as Sky5 watched the area from above, capturing images of the suspect lying motionless on the roof of the building, with a shotgun nearby.
Preliminary accounts indicate that the suspect, who is alleged to have fired numerous rounds at the helicopter, was eventually met with lethal force by deputies, though the LASD has declined to confirm those details. After deputies deployed a flashbang on the roof, the suspect remained motionless as the smoke cleared.

It wasn't until 9 p.m. that deputies climbed a ladder to confront the motionless suspect with their weapons drawn. The suspect, who had been pronounced dead, was covered with a sheet as detectives began collecting evidence for the investigation.
