A large percentage of electric vehicle owners want to return to normal cars, according to the study

-

Nearly half of American electric vehicle (EV) owners want to buy an internal combustion engine model the next time they buy a car, according to a new study by McKinsey and Company, a leading consulting firm.

About 46% of Americans who own an electric vehicle want to switch to a standard vehicle for their next purchase, citing issues such as inadequate charging infrastructure and affordability, according to the McKinsey study, which was obtained and reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The study's findings further suggest that the Biden administration's electric vehicle push is struggling to reach American consumers after 46 percent of respondents indicated who are unlikely or very unlikely to buy an EV in a June poll conducted by The Associated Press and the University of Chicago's Energy Policy Institute.

In addition, 58 percent of Americans are very likely to keep their current cars longer, and 44 percent are likely to postpone a possible switch to electric vehicles, the McKinsey study found. Consumer concerns about EV charging infrastructure are notable given the slow deployment of the 7.5 billion public dollars of the Biden administration Electric vehicle charging programwhich has so far led to the construction of only a handful of chargers in almost three years.

The Biden administration has said so goal for electric vehicles to account for 50% of all new car sales by 2030 and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finished strict regulations in March that will require manufacturers to ensure that up to 56% of their light-duty vehicles are electric vehicles by 2032. The EPA has also finished stringent emission standards for medium- and light-duty vehicles, while the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has also Closed fuel economy standards that will further push manufacturers to produce more electric vehicles.

The administration also spends billions of dollars to subsidize it production i purchase of electric vehicles, but manufacturers are still losing considerable amounts of cash on their electric vehicle product lines. Electric vehicles remained below a 10% share of all US auto sales in 2023, seconds at Cox Automotive.
