A gunman and erratic Florida man are shot by police [VIDEO]

The Orange County Sheriff's Office recently released body camera footage showing an officer shooting a man in his 30s last month at a Chevron gas station.

The incident, which took place on July 16 at the gas station located at West Michigan Street and Interstate 4, just east of South Westmoreland Drive, unfolded when the man was acting erratically and brandishing a metal rod.

According to investigators' reports, the man, whose identity has not been released, started the sequence of events by assaulting a person and then tried to break into a nearby truck. This effort caused the truck to roll forward, causing a gas pump to collapse.

Law enforcement officers at the scene issued repeated commands for the man to drop the rod, but he ignored their demands and moved aggressively toward them.

Despite attempts to subdue him with a Taser, the man did not appear affected by the shock delivered by one of the deputies. Undeterred, he turned to the deputies, brandishing the metal rod in a menacing manner.

In response to the imminent threat posed by the man's actions, the deputies resorted to the use of their firearms, with one of the shots hitting the man. He was later taken to a hospital for treatment.
