The incident took place on Peachtree St. NW, before 7:30 p.m. on July 27, while responding to a domestic dispute.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers engaged the 911 caller who reported a physical altercation with her partner.

Officers inquired about the woman's injuries to determine if medical attention was needed.

During the investigation, it became clear that the suspect had fled the scene, prompting an extensive search by law enforcement.

Video footage shows officers driving through the area in a vehicle, with one officer eventually locating the armed suspect, sparking a foot chase.

As tensions rose, the suspect ignored the officer's commands and opened fire, initiating a dangerous exchange of gunfire. The responding officer returned fire.

The suspect was eventually arrested after being ordered to surrender.
