Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has made it clear that he is serious about taking on American Olympic sprinter Noah Lyles in a race. Hill posted a video Sunday showing Lyles talking to former NFL players Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, where Hill challenged the speedster to “sign the contract and block that 50-yard run,” he reported. Fox News.
Sharpe and Johnson had previously mentioned that Hill would likely beat Lyles in a race, prompting a response from the sprinter. “I'll put it this way: Tyreek is just chasing power,” Lyles retorted. “Every time someone fast comes along, he says he wants to race him. If he really wanted to race people, he would have introduced himself as DK Metcalf. The man ran the 60m in the masters division. The man dodges smoke . I don't have time for that.”
Lyles referenced Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf, who competed in the USA Track and Field Golden Games three years ago. Metcalf ran the 100 meters in 10.37 seconds, finishing in eighth place, but received praise for his effort. “I think I've done pretty well for myself,” Metcalf said at the time.

Instead, Hill competed last year at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships in the 60-meter dash, which she won. It was the first time Hill had raced on a track in nine years.
Despite his criticism, Lyles indicated he would consider a career with Hill if approached through the right channels. “If it's being taken seriously, if it's being talked about and I'm not talking about just talking over the internet and not actually coming to me and talking to my agent and saying, 'Let's work something out.' If you’re serious about it, you’ll see me on the court,” Lyles said.
Hill, in response, hinted that a contract had already been drawn up for a 50-yard dash, suggesting the next move is up to Lyles.
The tension between Hill and Lyles began when Hill appeared on the show “Up and Adams” where he took a jab at Lyles, the self-proclaimed “Fastest Man in the World.” Hill referenced an incident in Paris where Lyles, after a poor performance in the 200 meters, revealed he had contracted COVID-19. Despite the setback, Lyles managed to win a bronze medal.
“Noah Lyles can't say anything after what just happened to him,” Hill commented. “Then he wants to come out and pretend he's sick. I think that's horseradish. For him to do that and say like we're not world champions in our sport, let's talk about what you know and that's the track. He'd beat Noah Lyles … It wouldn't beat him by much, but it would beat Noah Lyles. When I beat him, I'll put on a COVID mask and let him know I mean business.”
Hill later took to social media to express her interest in competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Hill, who ran track in high school with a personal best 100-meter time of 10.19 seconds, is confident in her speed Lyles, however, just won a gold medal in the 100 meters with a time of 9.79 seconds, winning by a photo finish.
