Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the congresswoman from New York known for her radical political positions, has drawn again criticismthis time for what some perceived as a fluctuating accent during his spirited speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
The congresswoman's speech, aimed at rallying support against former President Donald Trump, became the focus of both admiration and derision.
During her Monday night speech, Ocasio-Cortez passionately declared, “I, for one, am tired of hearing how a two-bit union buster considers himself more of a patriot than the woman who fights every day to raise the work. people under the boots of greed, trampling our way of life”.

This segment of his speech in particular raised eyebrows over his vocal delivery, which some listeners described as adopting a southern accent.
X (formerly Twitter) erupted in reactions shortly after his speech.
The AOC speech was chilling. The fake accent was too much for me. Broken back I called him. DNC collapses as everyone walks out. pic.twitter.com/dbVorXVlnu

Aside from the AOC discovering a new accent, it's fun to hear her claim that Donald Trump only fights for “the rich and big business.”
The Democratic Party is literally the party of the wealthy elites, Hollywood stars, professional athletes and woke mega-corporations.

Despite the criticism, Ocasio-Cortez's performance at the DNC was well received by many in attendance, as evidenced by chants of “AOC” as she took the stage and meaningful applause throughout her presentation.

The congresswoman, originally from the Bronx, has previously faced similar accusations regarding her accent.
In a notable example from 2019, she was criticized for adopting a Southern accent while speaking at the Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network convention.

He defended himself against these accusations, stating on X (Twitter) “People who speak my voice can come right out. Any kid who grew up in a different language culture and had to learn to navigate the environment class at school/work knows what's going on. My Spanish is the same.”
People who speak my voice can get out right away. Women's march speech and Kavanaugh, same.
