Johnson/Jeffries Trump shooting task force to 'replace' other house investigations

-

(Ken Silva, Holder USA) The working group appointed by the president of the Chamber Mike Johnson and ranking member Hakeem JeffriesD-NY, to investigate the attempted assassination of Trump began requesting documents this week from the Department of Justice, the FBI, Homeland Security and the secret service.

In letters sent on Mondaypresident of the working group Rep. Mike KellyR-Pa., requested all documents and information about the Trump firing that have come from the House or Senate. He also called for a closed-door briefing on the DHS, Secret Service and FBI investigations this Friday.

Perhaps more important than Kelly's requests was his revelation that the Johnson/Jeffries task force will “supersede” other House investigations into the July 13 shooting.

“Requests for documents and information from the task force hereafter supersede all other requests from committees and members of the House, and the Department of National Security (DHS) and the US Secret Service (USSS) should submit documents and information directly to the task force beginning at this time, including documents and information that are being processed in response to pending requests.” Kelly said to her letter at DHS and the Secret Service.

Additionally, Kelly noted that the resolution creating his task force requires all other House committees to transfer their firing records from Trump to be transferred to him.

The Johnson/Jeffries task force has been criticized since its inception, including by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who criticized Johnson for leaving out the former Navy Seal sniper representative. Eli CraneR-Ariz., and decorated combat veteran Rep. Cory MillsR-Fla. Both and Crane have accused federal agents at the July 13 rally of criminal negligence.

In contrast, the Johnson/Jeffries task force consists of six Democrats and seven Republicans, a mix of RINOs and MAGA-oriented legislators.

Democrats on the task force are Reps. Jason Crow, D-Co., Lou Correa, D-Calif., Madeleine Dean, D-Penn., Chrissy Houlahan, D-Penn., Glenn Ivey, D-Md. and Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla. Crow, who helped impeachment spearhead attempts against Trump, is the Democratic ranking.

Along with Kelly, the Republicans are Reps. Mark Green, R-Tenn., David Joyce, R-Ohio, Laurel Lee, R-Fla., Michael Waltz, R-Fla., Clay Higgins, R-La. and Pat. Fallon, R-Texas

Along with its composition, the task force has been criticized for setting a deadline of December 13 to produce the results of its investigation.

Kelly said this week that he expected to release interim results before then.
