Determined to regain heavyweight glory

-

London-based heavyweight boxer Joe Joyce is determined to regain his position in the top tier of the division. He is confident in his ability to win a world title and is looking for rematches with his previous opponents to restore his position. Joyce has previously handed both Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker stoppage defeats, earning him the interim WBO title. However, his progress was abruptly halted by back-to-back losses to Zhilei Zhang.

After a comeback win against Kash Ali in March, Joyce will face Derek Chisora at the O2 Arena this Saturday. Joyce is optimistic that a win over Chisora will pave the way for a future title shot. “I'm still in the top 10,” Joyce, 38, declared. “There are a lot of fights for me. There are opponents that I can get back. I still have a lot of opponents for me and I'm still to get a full world title, to be a world heavyweight champion. I have to check that off the list wishes”.

Joyce noted the contrast between his career and that of his former rival, Dubois, who had his interim IBF title upgraded to a full world championship within weeks. Joyce won an interim WBO belt when he defeated Parker in 2022, but was never given a world title shot and subsequently lost his title to Zhang the following year.

Despite the setbacks, Joyce remains undaunted. He welcomes a rematch with Parker or Dubois and is ready to face any of the top contenders. “Parker, it would be a good fight, a rematch. Any of the top guys really. Joshua can get it. Dubois can get it. They all can get it. Fury and Usyk! I'm coming for everybody,” he declared.

Joyce believes he can return to the top and regain his winning form. “Getting that heavyweight title, that's why I'm still in the sport. I reached the highest level in the fans and got a silver medal in the Olympics, and possibly, this is in the past, it should have been gold. I've had my setbacks, but I'm still here, I'm still alive and I'm still 'The Juggernaut'”, he concluded.
