He emphasized Biden's allegedly remarkable record and accomplishments of public service, but warned against jeopardizing that legacy and the future of American democracy by persevering in the face of potential challenges posed by former President Donald Trump.
Joe Biden's record of public service is unmatched. His achievements are immense. His legacy as a great president is certain.
This legacy, these achievements and American democracy should not be risked to continue to fight the horrors promised by Donald Trump. pic.twitter.com/FMMrTK8pb8

In the statement, Himes called for the president to “walk away from the presidential campaign,” stressing the critical importance of fielding a formidable candidate to counter the perceived threat of Trump's allegedly promised approach to MAGA authoritarianism. Himes stated, “The 2024 election will mark the trajectory of American democracy, and we must field the strongest possible contender to face the imminent threat of Trump's alleged authoritarian agenda. Unfortunately, I do not believe this figure is Joe Biden.”
Congresswoman Anna Paulina called it “partisan nonsense,” when it's a “national security issue.”
We asked to hear the Hur tapes on a SCIF and they wouldn't let us. There would be 0 concerns with leaks in a SCIF. So what is Garland hiding? Imagine how bad the tapes must be if they won't let us listen to them at SCIF… https://t.co/twvr2eR7eu
