Chuck Schumer booed in his backyard during the New York Israel Parade speech [VIDEOS]

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was booed by a crowd while speaking at an Israeli parade in New York City on Sunday. Video footage posted on X showed him being introduced to speak to a crowd of people holding signs with images of hostages held by Hamas and slogans such as “Bring them home,” it reported. Newsweek. In October 2023, Hamas, a US-designated Islamic terrorist group, attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking more than two hundred and fifty hostages. Although some of the hostages have been released, it is believed that around 130 people are still being held by Hamas. Of these, 40 are believed to be dead while 60 are still alive.

Schumer, who is Jewish, faced criticism in May when she remained silent on anti-Israel protests and encampments that took place on college and university campuses throughout April and early May. Pro-Israel protesters described him as a “traitor” and called for his resignation after he expressed “faith” in Joe Biden, saying he would withhold Israel's artillery and weapons if they went ahead with an invasion of Rafah, the last bastion of Hamas.

Schumer had previously called for Israel to hold new elections to replace Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he had “lost his way.”

Despite his criticism of Israel, Schumer signed a letter in support of inviting Netanyahu to speak before a “joint meeting of Congress,” along with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), the minority leader Senate Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). At the parade, Schumer repeated the slogan “Bring them home” several times as the crowd booed.
