In a bold and controversial move, artist and activist Scott Lobaido made a statement outside the courthouse where former President Donald Trump's money trial is unfolding. Lobaido unveiled an unusual “art installation” consisting of 100 pink, penis-shaped balloons emblazoned with the faces of individuals perceived as Trump's enemies, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the special counsel to the U.S. Jack Smith and Manhattan Judges Juan Merchan and Arthur Engoron. The provocative display, entitled “D–ks of Hazard”, was intended to convey Lobaido's view that these figures are ineffective.

Lobaido defended his unconventional protest, stating, “As a New Yorker, this is how we talk.” The installation, which cost $1,500 in supplies and took the artist two days to complete, was secured with added weights to prevent them from moving away prematurely.

Expressing his belief that the appointed judges and prosecutor are intent on “destroying” Trump and “the constitution,” Lobaido claimed his actions were motivated by their perceived disrespect for the presumptive presidential nominee. GOP 2024.

Smith has filed charges against Trump in multiple federal cases related to election interference and the mishandling of classified documents. Engoron presided over a civil fraud trial against Trump and issued a $455 million judgment against him, while Merchan oversees an ongoing criminal trial brought by Bragg's office.

During the balloon display, Trump allies Rep. Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert publicly criticized Merchan, calling him “corrupt.”

Lobaido timed the release of the balloons to coincide with what could be the last day of the trial, noting that the reaction to his stunt has been favorable.

Trump, who has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records, faces the possibility of prison if convicted. The charges stem from allegations he leveled against his former attorney, Michael Cohen, for arranging a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to conceal an extramarital affair before the 2016 election. Prosecutors say who falsely categorized the reimbursement to Cohen as a legitimate business expense in company filings.

The trial has seen sensational moments, including Daniels testifying about slapping Trump with a magazine in his face and Cohen admitting to derogatory comments about his former boss during cross-examination.

Lobaido's surprising demonstration adds a lively and controversial chapter to the unfolding process, which means the passionate reactions and unconventional tactics surrounding the court proceedings.
