The White House said on Monday that the costs of Thanksgiving meals were down, and while the average cost of a turkey, main course and dessert is down slightly from a record high in 2022, it still they are well above pre-pandemic levels.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre opened Monday’s briefing with a list of Thanksgiving staples, from turkey and blueberries to car rentals and plane tickets, and showed the percentages by which prices had fallen.
And while prices have dropped, in some cases significantly, since Thanksgiving dinner hit an all-time high in 2022, prices remain higher than in previous years, especially before the pandemic.
